Ripple Effect will not be practicing on Wednesday, July 30th and Saturday, August 2nd. Practice will resume on Wednesday August 6th at 6pm. We will be welcoming people wanting to try out dragon boating with Ripple Effect in August but we will probably be closing practices to paid Ripple members only for the month of September. Thanks!

Hey Orange Lovers!
Allen informed of how far our joint site with SpaceDragons is from the marshalling area. Knowing that most of will remain in flipflop type of footwear for most of the day, I wanted to share with you guys some exercises and stretches I would like for you all to do this entire week to prevent foot/ankle pain that could possibly arise from walking in these type of shoes. Here are some examples:
Ankle pumps: Pretend you’re driving. Point feet up and then down, bending only at the ankle.
Ankle Circles: Self-explanatory. You can also do alphabet spelling or even words like “love guru” “drunk hippo” “sexy,sex” “bill pullman”.
Heel Raises: three positions 1) like a duck 2) neutral 3) like a pigeon. do 7 of each as one set. don’t feel the burn? do another set and another until you do.
Single leg standing: stand on one leg. Place weight through foot so that you are standing on heel and the two balls of your foot. We call this a tripod stance. This helps with the formation of your foot arch.
These are very basic foot exercises. Please aske Sue May for more if you feel these are not enough or are too easy. I’ll be away on vacation and will miss this Wednesdays practice.
